WORKING WITH HOMELESS PEOPLE

Are you homeless in Richmond?

Call 020 8404 1481 between 9.30 and 5.00 Monday to Friday and talk to our Outreach Team. You can also leave a message out of hours.

If you are sleeping rough our workers will arrange to meet you on the streets.  If you are homeless, but not rough sleeping then you could arrange an appointment with our Tenancy Support Team. Our workers will then work to help you access temporary accommodation with a view to securing a more permanent solution.

You should also call or go to the London Borough of Richmond-upon-Thames Housing Needs Department. Their telephone number is 020 8891 7409, and they are based at the Civic Centre in Twickenham. They may have a statutory duty to house you.  They also have a legal obligation to give you advice and assistance to help you access accommodation.

Are you homeless in another borough?

Call or go to the Local Authority’s Housing Needs Department. They may have a statutory duty to house you.  They also have a legal obligation to give you advice and assistance to help you access accommodation.

Another option is to try a local Citizen’s Advice Bureau.  They will be able to advise you about benefits and direct you to other agencies who can help you. You can find your nearest CAB via their website, www.citizensadvice.org.uk

Shelter's Housing Advice Helpline offers urgent housing advice and information on hostel vacancies.  If you are desperate for somewhere tonight then they may be able to help you.
Their number is 0808 800 4444 and you can call for free from any phone. (8 am-midnight, 7 days a week).

The Homeless London website also offers a great deal of information about organisations working with homeless people in London. www.homelesslondon.org
