SPEAR

WORKING WITH HOMELESS PEOPLE

How can we help?

SPEAR works with people at any stage of homelessness, supporting our service users to the point that they no longer need us. We currently operate six main services, which link together to provide a comprehensive range of support for people who are homeless in or around Richmond.

Our Outreach Team can help rough sleepers to access accommodation, both temporary and more permanent, while the Tenancy Support Team works with people in tenancies across the Borough and provides support so that each and every person can make the most of their accommodation.  Our Hostel offers a first step away from the streets as well as a first step to building a new life.  We also have a Young Person's Hostel, giving four young men their first chance at independent living. Our Rent Deposit Scheme assists people to access accommodation in the private rented sector and our Drug and Alcohol Service works with people to reduce their substance misuse and regain their confidence so they can also reintegrate into mainstream society.

All our services work with their clients to provide more than a roof over their heads - we also strive to ensure that they have the opportunities to make the most of their lives.  For some this change might be to undertake regular recreational activity, while for others we can be more challenging, encouraging individuals to develop their life and work skills so they can start to volunteer, attend formal education and enter the job market – we tailor our services to meet the capability of each individual and see it as our role to instil ambition.
