How can you help us?There are many ways you can help us to make a tangible difference to the lives of Richmond’s vulnerable people: Donate – your moneyAs with all organisations working with vulnerable people we are always looking for financial donations and even the smallest contribution can make an enormous difference: £20 pays for a thermal sleeping bag To make a donation please send a cheque made payable to SPEAR to 55 Heath Road, Twickenham, TW1 4AW. We always acknowledge your donation and any sums no matter how small are gratefully received and appreciated. Donate – your timeWe are often looking for volunteers to help with a number of areas in SPEAR: Fundraising and events – we have a programme of events planned and if you would like to help with admin and organising please contact us at fundraising@spearlondon.org. Service Volunteers – helping with life skills is very rewarding and for some of our clients just having someone to talk to is invaluable. Or could you run a group session, such as CV writing or an art workshop? If you would like to find out more contact us on volunteer@spearlondon.org. Outreach volunteers – our dedicated team of outreach workers undertake regular shifts looking for rough sleepers on the Borough’s streets. They always need volunteers to help, would you like to join us on a night time street outreach shift? If you would like to find out more contact outreach@spearlondon.org Donate – your thingsYour practical gifts can help immeasurably to improve the life of our clients. We are always grateful for donations of non perishable foods and other items which make our clients’ stay at the hostel more comfortable, and help us to ensure that as they move on, they have everything they need. We would particularly welcome unopened toiletries, such as unwanted gift packs, toothpaste and toothbrushes and sanitary products, and items that are useful round the house such as kitchen towel, dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid and cutlery. We also give donations of items such as pans, bedding, towels and tea towels to clients as they settle into a new home. We also provide blankets and bedding to those who continue to sleep rough either through choice or because we cannot accommodate them due to our limited resources and bed spaces. If you wish to donate such items, or have other ideas for donations but are unsure of whether we would be able to use them effectively, please talk to Hostel Staff on 020 8948 5564 or drop items off with the Hostel at 24 Kew Road, Richmond TW9 2NA. Staying InformedIf you would like to be keep informed of what’s happening at SPEAR please e-mail admin@spearlondon.org or call 020 8288 6506 with your address details. We will send you regular newsletters and our annual review - and we promise not to give your details to anyone else. |
