SPEAR

WORKING WITH HOMELESS PEOPLE

Our future

SPEAR is working towards a three-year strategy, from 2007 to 2010.  If you would like a copy of the full strategy, please call 020 8288 6506 or email admin@spearlondon.org.

Here are some of the more high profile initiatives which we are currently working on, and which we intend to have delivered by 2010:

Develop a hub where all of SPEAR's services are available for any marginalised person to walk off the street and access.
Increase our services so we can offer meaningful daytime activity to every client we work with.  SPEAR is excellent at ending an individual's period of homelessness.  Now we want to take that work further and explore ways for all our service users to becoming involved in education, recreation, training, volunteering and work - and to have the will and self-belief to achieve true independence.
Set up a volunteer service, which can offer a mentoring scheme to individuals in accommodation who have been homeless, or are in danger of becoming homeless. Mentors will support our clients to access recreational activities, educational opportunities and will encourage them to realise independence.
A service to ensure that private sector accommodation is available for those we believe will prosper in such an environment.
Have more temporary accommodation available to SPEAR, so that we can take even more people off the streets.
To be able to offer access to community detoxes for people misusing alcohol and drugs.

As you can see it is a very exciting time to be involved with SPEAR as we look towards the future.  We hope you will join us or support our work as we strive to change the lives of many, many people for the better.
