Tenancy Support

Enabling someone to keep their home means much more than putting a roof over their head.

This is an integrated service for people who have been or are at risk of becoming homeless. Once a service user has been referred to us we can assess what kind of accommodation they would be suitable for  and help them to access it. This could either be a temporary  Rough Sleeper’s Intiative training flat , their own council nomination or a flat in the private rented sector.

SPEAR’s Tenancy Support Team support people in temporary and more permanent accommodation  offering advice, resettlement and support to maintain their tenancies.

For those who no longer need the  support we can signpost them to other appropriate agencies.

Using the “Outcomes Star” system, this team enables their clients to look at 10 different aspects of their lives. They consider their Meaningful Activities, Motivation, Independent Living Skills, Emotional Wellbeing, Finances, Accommodation, Health, Substance Use, Social Networks and Legal Issues.

A team of three support workers offer this intensive support to more than 70 clients in tenancies across the Borough. 18 clients moved out of the service into their own permanent, independent accommodation last year.
