At SPEAR, we know the value volunteers can bring. Volunteers form a vital part of many of our services; from covering the reception desks at our Hub and Hostel, to working with our Outreach team to locate rough sleepers, to sharing hobbies and skills and providing mentoring support to clients, to raising much needed funds. In 2016 volunteers, including service-user volunteers, donated over 4,000 hours of their time to helping SPEAR, which equates to over 2 years in full-time working hours! We clearly couldn’t do all that we do, or as well as we do it, without your help.

THANK YOU!

STOP PRESS! We urgently need volunteers to help us over the next 4-6 weeks in the run-up to our 30th Anniversary Event on Tuesday, 11th July, with a variety of roles. Please see the 30th Anniversary Volunteers Flyer for further details and contact us if you are able to help with anything at all.

Our regular volunteers are engaged in a wide variety of roles, from supporting our Outreach shifts, to covering the reception at our Hub or Hostel, to running Arts & Craft classes for our clients. The majority of these roles take place during normal working hours (Mon- Fri daytime). As you will see from the ‘News’ pages, we are in the process of developing and expanding our services across Richmond and neighbouring boroughs. We are therefore not currently recruiting new volunteers to these roles until the dust settles, when we hope to have some new, exciting volunteer roles to offer.

For our regular volunteer roles, you would need to complete a standard  VOLUNTEER APPLICATION FORM.

In the meantime, we always need volunteers to help out at our various events, in particular the fairs and collection days we run throughout the year, or perhaps to assist with counting or sorting donations,  stuffing and franking envelopes for a large mailing – or collecting and dropping donations from a local supermarket. These roles may suit those unable to offer a more regular commitment.
