The tragic death of George Floyd in the USA has been a wake-up call to address racism. Our thoughts are with George Floyd’s family and other families who have lost loved ones from tragic acts of racism and brutality or whose lives have been negatively impacted by racism.
We at SPEAR stand with Black Lives Matter.
We appreciate that what has happened has impacted on SPEAR staff, clients and stakeholders and that systemic racial inequality also has deep roots in the UK.
We realise that addressing racial discrimination, is not just about compliance with legislation and having procedures in place. It is also about inclusivity, managing differences, tackling conscious and unconscious bias and challenging prejudices.
We know that at SPEAR, we haven’t got it completely right, but we’re willing to be open and transparent and to keep learning.
