Past: Walk of Hope – Sunday 3rd October

Tired of months of virtual events at home? We miss doing team activities outdoors, and we have missed seeing you. That is why we would like to invite you to join us on our fun and social gathering Walk of Hope on Sunday 3rd October.

Why are we hosting the Walk of Hope?

October is a key date in the ‘Return to Normal’ but for all the wrong reasons. The end of rental evictions ban has ended and October is the first month when these will be enforced. SPEAR will be there for whoever needs us and we will offer people hope when people are experiencing a time of despair.

On a more positive note 3rd October is the return of the London Marathon after being cancelled last year.

Bruce, our Senior Fundraiser, is taking part in the Virtual London Marathon and walking all 5 Boroughs where we offer our services. He will be joining the Walk of Hope at the end of his challenge to walk in Kingston and Richmond.

Details of the Walk

Meeting Point: 10.15 at Kingston Gate (KT2 5JN)

The Walk: 10.45. The distance is 7.1 miles. This is an event for all the family, including your beloved children and dogs.

Lunch: 13.00. Participants of all walks are invited to bring a picnic and join together. This will be at Kingston Gate (KT2 5JN)

We ask that participants donate £10 (or £15 for a family) to help us meet the challenges of those facing homelessness as Winter draws in.

Whatever distance you achieve will contribute to the total and ALL participants will receive a certificate recording how many marathons #TeamSPEAR achieves.

This is not a mass participation event. It is an opportunity for us all – supporters, volunteers, family and friends, SPEAR staff and clients – to get together again in the fresh air.

Even if you can’t walk on the day, please do come and join us for a bring-your-own-picnic lunch and cheer on those taking part. Or you can sponsor them on JustGiving

We will set up a central sponsorship page but also welcome individual walkers to set up theirs, however you don’t have to be sponsored to take part.
