Swim for SPEAR?
Dive into action and make a splash for a good cause at this year’s Swimathon, taking place at Teddington Pool on Sunday 17 November.
Are you ready to challenge yourself?
You can swim solo or gather your family and friends together to make it a team event.
It doesn’t matter if you’re a seasoned swimmer or just looking to make a difference, this event is perfect for you.
There are no age requirements as long as there are adults supervising younger swimmers. If doing a team challenge, the minimum swimming ability is to be able to swim a length. Members of a team do not need to swim the same amount so stronger swimmers can support beginners, so all can take part.
However you choose to take part, it’s a fantastic opportunity to test your skills and endurance while raising vital funds for those in need.
How does it work?
First you need to choose an hour to swim between midday and 4pm.
As there are a limited number of lanes please let us know if you can be flexible. Once you’ve chosen your time slot, it’s time to get sponsored! You can opt for a per-length sponsorship, turning every stroke into a victory, or secure a flat amount for completing the swim.
Whatever you choose, know that your efforts will greatly impact the community.
Two-thirds of the money raised will directly support SPEAR’s incredible work in helping individuals to overcome homelessness and regain their independence. The other third will go to the Rotary, ensuring event costs are covered and to help their generous support of a wide range of local charities.
