Homeless Health Link Worker

Homeless Health Link Worker

SPEAR was founded in 1987 on the principle that people shouldn’t die because they don’t have a home. Since then, we’ve developed a range of services that together provide an integrated pathway from rough sleeping to independent accommodation. We recognise that it takes both time and courage to change; to trust new people; learn new skills; take chances and commit to a hopeful future.

Homelessness isn’t just a housing problem, it’s also about isolation, poor health, poverty and mental ill health. That’s why we don’t just provide a roof over someone’s head, we commit to making a lasting difference.

We are looking for a new worker to join our successful Homeless Health Link Service at SPEAR. This service engages and supports rough sleepers with their mental and physical ill health needs. This service works in apsychologically informed environment’ (PIE) as well as taking a ‘trauma informed care approach’ to how we work with rough sleepers.

This service works in the boroughs of Richmond and Kingston and is delivered in an outreach / floating support type model, working with homelessness providers and primary care health providers in those boroughs. The service also works in partnership with the community mental health teams across the borough’s to support those rough sleepers with forensic mental health needs engage with mental health services.

This service will be working with anybody that is currently rough sleeping or has a history of rough sleeping, with a particular focus on those clients with a history of entrenched rough sleeping.

We are currently looking to recruit one health link worker to the team.
