Resettlement and Tenancy Support

Enabling someone to keep their home means much more than putting a roof over their head.

Resettlement and Tenancy Support is an integrated service for people who have been or are at risk of becoming homeless. Once a service user has been referred to us we can assess what kind of accommodation they would be suitable for and help them to access it. This could either be a House of Multiple Occupancy (HMO), a temporary Rough Sleeper’s Initiative training flat (RSI), their own council nomination, or a flat/studio in the private rented sector.

Once a service user is resettled into the right accommodation, an allocated worker will support the service user in the areas they need in order to sustain their tenancy. The Resettlement and Tenancy Support Team offer this service across the boroughs of Richmond, Kingston, Wandsworth and Sutton.

SPEAR’s Resettlement and Tenancy Support Team supports people in temporary and more permanent accommodation by offering advice, resettlement and support to maintain their tenancies. The support they could expect would be with: budgeting, claiming benefits, employment and training, accessing services, building and maintaining relationships/social networks, independent living skills, or moving on to alternative accommodation. This is assessed by a system using the ‘Outcomes Star’ method. Using this method gives the service user full control of their future outcomes by setting themselves goals to work towards an independent life.

The “Outcomes Star” System

Using the “Outcomes Star” system, the team enables their clients to look at 10 different aspects of their lives. They consider their Meaningful Activities, Motivation, Independent Living Skills, Emotional Wellbeing, Finances, Accommodation, Health, Substance Use, Social Networks and Legal Issues.

This intensive support is offered to over 120 clients in tenancies across the four boroughs.
