SPEAR volunteers win Richmond Community Awards!

SPEAR have over 50 volunteers who support our work in many ways.  They are a vital function to help us do our work more efficiently and effectively and we are grateful and thankful for all our volunteers.  However, huge thanks and congratulations go to two of our very dedicated SPEAR volunteers; Catherine Jeffries and Rebecca Wallis, who have both been awarded a Richmond Community Award.  See here for more info. about the Richmond Community Awards.

Catherine has assisted various departments across SPEAR for the past 2 years and is always one of the first to offer her help. Amongst other things, Catherine has supported events, helped with activities for our clients and on our SPEAR Reception.  Catherine is also well known for her volunteering with other local charities; ensuring that volunteering is a real commitment for her and a way of life.

Rebecca has been key in developing SPEAR’s links with All Hallows Parish Church in Twickenham, since taking on the role of ‘Charity Champion’ there 2 years ago.  All Hallows has involved people from all the parish including their congregation, their uniformed groups and other local residents.  This fantastic commitment to SPEAR ensured All Hallows raised the highest ever amount SPEAR have ever received from a church.  Rebecca not only volunteers regularly with SPEAR herself,

she has also managed to raise awareness of the issue of homelessness across the parish, and recruit additional volunteers.
