St George’s Charity Football Tournament

St George’s Charity Football Tournament

St George, in aid of the Berkeley Foundation, organised a Charity Football Tournament at Powerleague Shoreditch last week.

The event aimed to bring St George’s charity partners together for a fun afternoon of competing and fundraising.

With over twenty teams competing, we were thrilled to see St George’s team representing SPEAR reach the quarter finals!

At the event, the different charities were invited to talk about the work they do and how St George has supported them.

This year marks 10 years of partnership between SPEAR and St George so Helen, SPEAR’s Director of Fundraising and Engagement, took the opportunity to thank them for their ongoing support:

“Last year, we supported 250 people with skill training and just over 100 people went into a paid or volunteering role.

Your support really does make a huge difference and together we can give people the support they need to transform their lives.”

An estimated £100,000 was raised on the day to be split between the four charities. An incredible sum that will help us support people experiencing homelessness to find a place to call home and provide a range of services to improve their health, wellbeing, skills and begin to look more positively towards an independent future.
