After the London Marathon, the Great North Run is one of Britain’s great public sporting mass events, getting people up and active over 13.1 miles raising thousands of pounds for charity.
Sadly like many such events it has had to be cancelled, but has been resurrected as a virtual event.
Unlike other virtual events where participants can take part as and when, everyone will be taking part and competing at the same time.
How can this be managed with social distancing?
While everyone will set off together when the staring pistol fires, it just won’t be in the same place.
Participants will take part wherever they are using the ViRace App to keep track of progress. The App also has a specially designed soundtrack to make you feel part of the event and marking milestones that you would have passed.
With this App you will be competing against all other runners and you will be able to compare your performance against other participants, as you would have if you had been there on the day.
Entry is free but to take part you must register HERE
Then just set up your fundraising page, pull on your running shoes and go for it!
