Thank you to all our incredible SPEAR volunteers and trustees
As we join the national celebration for Volunteers’ Week 2025, we are proud to shine a spotlight on some of the amazing individuals who make our work possible.

Spotlight on our trustees
Behind the scenes, our trustees play a crucial role in guiding SPEAR’s mission and ensuring we continue to provide life changing support. This Volunteers’ Week, we’re delighted to introduce two of our dedicated trustees:
Leslye Jourdan
Leslye joined SPEAR’s Board this month, After volunteering at one of our drop-in days through a corporate participation event, Leslye was moved by the experience and decided to get more involved. Her advice for anyone considering becoming a charity trustee?
"I was interested in understanding more about the homeless situation in London, as it seemed to be on the rise, while the people I was seeing seemed to be diversifying. At the most basic level, I would advise anyone considering becoming a charity trustee have a genuine interest in the charity’s mission and focus."
Paul Doe – trustee for seven years, Chair for five
Paul brings a wealth of experience from a long career in housing and homelessness, including serving as Chair of St Mungo’s and Chief Executive of Shepherds Bush Housing Group. After retiring, Paul wanted to continue making a difference locally and joined SPEAR’s board. His message to potential trustees is clear:
“Don't hold back. Apply. We need a huge range of skills, experience and knowledge but above all a passion for our mission and the sharing of our values. Age is unimportant, diversity is valued and no one should shy away from the feeling that they don't know enough about what the charity does.”
Thank you to all our volunteers
From our frontline volunteers to our trustees, every individual who gives their time to SPEAR helps us build a better future for people experiencing homelessness. During Volunteers’ Week – and every week – we say thank you. Your time, care and support are changing lives.
