We were delighted to welcome local MP Munira Wilson to the Health and Wellbeing Day we hosted with Shepherd’s Star in Twickenham on Friday, held to mark both World Homeless Day and World Mental Health Day.
Munira joined Tim Fallon, SPEAR’s CEO, and Carrie Reiners, our Director of Fundraising and Engagement, along with staff, partners and people supported by SPEAR. Together, they saw first-hand how community organisations and local health services – including the SPECTRA, HepC Trust, Richmond Mind and others – provided expert advice, wellbeing activities and practical support in a welcoming, non-clinical space.
Munira Wilson praised the event, noting its value for people experiencing homelessness:
“It’s inspiring to see local organisations coming together to break down barriers to health and support in our community. Initiatives like this make a tangible difference, creating space for health, wellbeing and hope for everyone who attends.”
Carrie Reiners, SPEAR’s Director of Fundraising and Engagement, said:
“Having Munira’s support means a great deal to us and to everyone who benefits from these services. Today’s event shows the best of our health and community partnerships in action.”
112 clients and 25 agencies attended the day, which delivered specialist health checks, hot meals, free haircuts, advice sessions and opportunities to connect with a supportive community – demonstrating SPEAR’s ongoing commitment to holistic, person-centred care.
